Error Analysis
The Most Common Default Errors
These are the mistakes creditors and CRAs make most frequently β each one is a valid ground for removal or correction.
Wrong Default Date
The date of default affects when it drops off your file. Even a few months difference can mean years of unnecessary damage.
Duplicate Defaults
The same debt recorded twice β by the original creditor and a debt purchaser β creating double the negative impact.
Post-Settlement Default
A default recorded after the account was settled or a repayment plan agreed β often a procedural error by the creditor.
Missing Default Notice
No valid DN served before the default was registered. A direct breach of Consumer Credit Act s.87 requirements.
Wrong Account Number
The default is linked to the wrong account or person β a data accuracy issue under UK GDPR Art.16.
Incorrect Balance
The registered default balance includes charges, PPI, or interest that was not legally applicable to the account.

FAQs
Default Questions Answered
A default is recorded when you miss payments and the lender formally registers a default notice. It stays on your credit file for 6 years and severely damages your ability to get credit, mortgages, or rental agreements.
Yes β if applied incorrectly, if the notice was not properly served, if the debt is disputed, or if the creditor failed to follow CONC regulations, we can challenge and remove it at any time.
The most common are: no valid default notice served, incorrect amount, debt already settled, fraudulent account, incorrect default date, duplicate entries, and creditor failure to investigate a dispute.
We submit disputes to all three major CRAs simultaneously β Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion β so the removal is complete across your entire credit file.
We escalate formally to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), which can order removal and award compensation. We also escalate to the ICO for data protection violations where relevant.
Yes. If we cannot achieve removal after exhausting all reasonable avenues including FOS escalation, you receive a full refund subject to our Terms & Conditions.
