Received a 90-Day Account Closure Notice?
New 2026 rules give you 90 days to challenge your CIFAS marker. We use every day.
The New 90-Day Rules (April 2026)
90 Days Written Notice
Banks MUST give you 90 days written notice before closing your account (accounts opened after 28 April 2026). For older accounts, 60 days notice applies.
Written Explanation Required
The bank must provide a written explanation for the closure. You have the RIGHT TO CHALLENGE the decision and the underlying CIFAS marker.
Your Right to Challenge
You have the right to challenge the closure and the CIFAS marker that triggered it. The 90-day window is your opportunity to act.
Exception: Serious Crime
Banks can close accounts WITHOUT notice if they suspect "serious crime" or fraud (Regulation 51C). However, many banks misuse this exception — wrongful closures are challengeable.
How We Use Every Day of Your 90-Day Window
Free Assessment + DSAR Submitted
We assess your case, identify the marker type, and immediately submit a Subject Access Request to Cifas and the bank to get the full picture.
DSAR Analysis + Draft Complaint
We analyse the bank's evidence, identify weaknesses, and draft a formal complaint demonstrating why the marker is wrongful.
Complaint Submitted to Bank
We submit the formal complaint to the bank. They have 8 weeks to respond under FCA rules — but we push for faster resolution.
FOS Escalation if Needed
If the bank rejects, we escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service immediately — still within your 90-day window in most cases.
